Vacation isn't just for vacation anymore.

It’s been a WHOLE YEAR!

Today is our 1 year anniversary of bringing our Airstream home, and… we love it even more than we thought we would have!

Even with ALL the issues we’ve had with it (posts about those challenges are soon to come)… we really do love and appreciate having this silver travel tube 🙂. It’s our window to adventure while still keeping our day jobs. Speaking of adventure…

Since we’ve owned our Airstream, we’ve spent:

  • 75 nights in it (including the first 2 nights we had it in our driveway 🤣)

We’ve been to:

  • 16 RV parks (2 of which we’ve stayed at twice),
  • 5 Harvest Hosts (1 of which we’ve stayed at twice)

Covering 6 different states:

  • Texas
  • New Mexico
  • Colorado
  • Utah
  • Arizona
  • California

And we’ve towed it close to 9500 miles in our first year!

It’s pretty neat to be able to go adventuring while also being able to work our jobs. We are very grateful that we can do this.

Nick and I are both very dedicated to doing good work at our jobs, and it was very important to us that our desire to do this travel+work thing would not cause disruption to our coworkers/teams. We knew we had to make sure that wherever we’d travel with intentions to also work, we absolutely must have a solid internet connection – enough for both of us to be on video calls at the same time, seamlessly. That’s a tall order! Sometimes forests and internet aren’t commonly found together! And, as I write that, I realize, on one hand, it could be seen as a bit of a shame that we need to be connected in places meant for disconnecting, but, on the other hand, we can enjoy those places much more readily than we could if we were always at home. We can disconnect at the end of our work day and then immediately enjoy all the loveliness that those places have to offer. I’m a glass-half-full type of person, so that’s the way I choose to look at it 😁.

More to come on how we’ve solved the internet connectivity dilemma, and no, not with Starlink!

Here are some of our favorite pictures from our first year. Thanks for being a part of our journey!

Totally joyed at your state of mind after what you’ve experienced this first year…real troopers, problem-solvers, fellow glass-half-fullers (I’m more 3/4 full but I know the saying breaks down in my case) and CAN’T WAIT to hear details of your experiences when we meet! Love to you both!

It is a joy to have been able to connect with you and your awesome Airstream in 3 states so far. Colorado, New Mexico and Arizona. How fun is that? So happy for you that you have made this all work! I admire your tenacity. Love and hugs to you both! Can’t wait to see you again!
